Paul Blake is a full-time, self-employed researcher and lecturer. He is a Member of the Association of Genealogists & Researchers in Archives (AGRA), Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and Pro Researchers in Archives (PRA); and holds the Diploma in Genealogy from the Institute of Heraldic & Genealogical Studies.

From the mid-1980s he has taught classes in family history at all levels, from beginners to advanced. Paul lectures widely on a variety of family history and related subjects, in England and overseas, and as a guest lecturer on cruise ships.

Paul is a regular writer for Family History Monthly magazine and has also contributed to the highly successful Readers' Digest book, Explore Your Family's Past. He is joint author of the book Who was your Granny's Granny? He has undertaken research for the television series The People Detective and Revealing Secrets, and has appeared on the latter. And has worked as an advisor to the History Channel and the BBC.

Paul has served on many committees. He is a past chairman, of the Society of Genealogists Executive Committee and of its Lectures Committee. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Family History Societies, and its Director of Publicity. He serves on The National Archives' Online Advisory Board, on the Regular Users Committees of the Public Record Office and Family Records Centre, and on the British Genealogical Record Users' Committee.

Paul is President of the East Surrey FHS and a Fellow of the Society of Genealogists.
